About NextPlay Event Center
Project Overview
NextPlay Event Center is a state-of-the-art, multi-surface sports and entertainment complex designed to serve as the beating heart of the Brazos Valley. With seating for 4,000-6,000 guests, two NHL size ice rinks, and fully convertible event floors, the facility can seamlessly transition between hockey, volleyball, concerts, expos, and community gatherings. Beyond the main arena, the center features a dedicated community rink, outdoor plaza, classrooms, and family-friendly dining, creating a destination that is as versatile as it is impactful.
History & Development
The idea for NextPlay began with a simple but pressing need: the Brazos Valley lacked modern, year-round venues for both sports and entertainment. Through concept exploration and demographic research, it became clear that a dual-rink arena paired with flexible event spaces could not only fill this gap but also elevate the region’s role as a hub for athletics, concerts, and community connection. Extensive market analysis confirmed that demand for such a facility already exists, supported by strong population growth, a vibrant student base at Texas A&M, and an absence of comparable venues within a 100-mile radius.
